Massive Overhaul

All -

For various reaasons I am looking at what will be a massive overhaul of the site.

What will be about V4 of Bishyboys!

I am going to be looking into moving to something like drupal.org and freshning / tidying things up considerably.

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas about this please let me know.

No specific timescales as yet, but I am keen to get the site updated andget a load of new, and old, pictures onto the site.

What do you want to see from YOUR site then ?

Matty,

In this day and age of Facetwit4sq Web 2.0 nonsense, you'd be foolish to build something from scratch. And you'd be also foolish to build something just for rovers.

How about you build a facebook app called 'My Scout Unit' that can have facebook users as Chairman, Secretary, normal members, ex members etc etc that can take events old and new, photo albums within events etc and then just put a front end for the whole shebang on here.

You get Facebook App experience, other units can use it and you get a facebook app under your belt..... Even extend the development to iPhone/Android app for 'My Unit' to complete the picture. I'll happily throw in a few lines of code if you need help.

And also, the trick with any good website is fresh and organised content, as you've still to migrate update the data that's on the current site, here, here, and here you'd be wise to decide on a solution that's going to devolve as much of that responsibility to as many people as possible to ensure the content is updated.

Havng said all that, you also want to consider an archive as I for one delve into the depths of the old photo gallery for a giggle at how 'young' we all once were:

My 2p worth

Mr. Toad ? the wealthiest character and owner of Toad Hall. Although good-natured, Toad is impulsive and self-satisfied. He is prone to obsessions and crazes, such as punting, houseboating, and horse-drawn caravans, each of

Why not let the current rovers manage their own site?

Here it is....Though there are things still to do:

* Update Gallerys

* Rovers Profiles (when someone gets me the info)

* Fix Adams posts(sorry!)  --Actioned smiley

*Other things as I come accross them!

So for now, I hope it's all working. If not then give me a PM.

Thanks!

Is there an option for LAST POST links, everything I've looked at tonight takes me to the first page, then you click on last post but this only takes you to the top of the last page.

Also the reply and quote icons have writing below them (as in underneath/ half hidden)

Its also quite difficult to easily see what is new and whats not (the update tag in red is a pain in the tits)

Thats all for now!

The quick answer for the red update tags would be to click the link at the top of the relevant forum to ' mark all as read'.

Il look into your other points when I'm home/tomorrow.

Cheers for the comments however.

I'm not sure.... I'll look into how to do this.

Icons removed for now - the text links look OK to me.

See my previous post.
It's proven impossible to update that 'new posts' flag for all users at once. I'd have to go through everyone individually....
Also - once the forum gets some use (he says hopefully) then it will be more apparent whats new and whats not.
